It has a gentle climate, indented coastline with many small islands, peninsulas thick with pine trees and beautiful beaches sheltered from the sea by the island of St. Nikola. All of these have helped make Poreč a leading center of Croatian tourism, developing from a small fishing village to become an attractive tourist hub. Today it is one of the most integral Istrian towns and well worth a visit. Poreč is the center of the largest holiday area in Istria and is known as the Riviera of Istria.
