It has a gentle climate, indented coastline with many small islands, peninsulas thick with pine trees and beautiful beaches sheltered from the sea by the island of St. Nikola. All of these have helped make Poreč a leading center of Croatian tourism, developing from a small fishing village to become an attractive tourist hub.
