Positive: Héritage establishment with all the charm of gone by days. However there’s funny artistic accents and wholesome use of pure materials like cotton rather than gold embroidery which make the ambiance light hearted and happy. Staff is exceptionally friendly. We stayed during the rainy season which was awesome. Less guests and less heath.

Negative: 1 thing was a bit inefficient. The morning we checked-out I passed by the reception to inquire after settling the bill. The receptionist very friendly told me to come back upon checking-out, no hurry and no problem, friendly smile. Fine. But when I arrived 20 minutes before my intended departure (to the railway station where we had to catch a reserved train) it appeared there was a problem with their payment system since early that morning. I was asked to pay cash and was pointed to an ATM next door. Unfortunately the evening before it had taken me 4 dysfunctional ATM’s including the one next door, before I was able to get money from the wall. I had taken it out as a precaution for during my onward journey to more remote provinces. I told them the ATM’s weren’t functioning and that by now I didn’t have enough time left to go collect money at the closest one which would have taken me maybe as much as 45 minutes, so I ended up spending half of my cash paying the bill at the upmarket hotel in a big city of 8 million inhabitants instead of keeping my cash for which it was intended. I think that wasn’t very convenient. But I only share this story to show that everywhere in India one has to be prepared to pay cash. Other than that the House of MG hotel experience was one we wouldn’t have wanted to miss at any price
