the cottage is conveniently situated for walking in the nearby galloway hills and cycling along some of the numerous designated cycle routes in the area, as well as the cycle routes of the seven stanes mountain bike tracks including the well known centre at kirroughtree National Cycle Route 7 passes close by with a local ride to the Cairnsmore of Fleet National Nature Reserve. The Galloway Forest Park offers numerous walks and bike trails and is a premier Dark Skies Park as it is a superb location for star watching. Water sports are available on the Solway coast together with Loch Ken and for golf enthusiasts there are several courses within a short drive.
