rockcliffe is one of scotland's most attractive stretches of coastline, and makes a wonderful base for a family holiday with a safe sandy beach and easy coastal walks To the north, a network of paths take you through mixed woodlands and wildflower meadows to Kippford, a busy sailing and water sports centre, and also a popular destination for eating out with two good pubs. In the other direction, the path follows the shoreline to Castle Point and then along cliff tops towards Sandyhills. At low tide one can walk to Rough Island, a National Trust for Scotland bird sanctuary.
