After spending a day checking out the neighborhood, take a nice walk to hop on the Saugatuck Chain Ferry. In service since 1838, this little boat is chain pulled across the Kalamazoo River and plops you right in the heart of Saugatuck. With this towns huge art scene, boasting various art festivals throughout the summer season, you are sure to find a treasure for you or a loved one back home. Saugatuck allows open container in the "social district" off Butler and Water Streets. Enjoy a beverage from one of the local watering holes and feel free to bring it with you as you walk the riverfront.
