Trust us...you don't want to deal with having to park a car on the festival grounds! (pro-tip: book far in advance! this space will book fast!)
enjoy barton springs (also within walking distance) which is a spring-fed pool On the other side of the pool is a large park complete with picnic tables and a huge playground for children complete with a train that circles around the park. Enjoy snow cones as you lay out on the banks of the pool. For those more active, jog or bike on the Town Lake trails or rent a canoe. Nearby restaurants include Shady Grove (a family-friendly local place that often has live music), Austin Java, Uncle Billy's BBQ and microbrew, Chuy's Tex-Mex, Baby A's Tex-Mex (home of the purple margarita), Daily Juice and Flipnotics Coffee.
head east a few blocks to shop in the nearby south congress (soco) district Find thrift stores, vintage shops, a costume store, candy stores, tons of antiques and homemade items, clothing stores, retro toy stores, and lots of locally owned boutiques.
