Although a car is not necessary in this location, if you want to rent a car for a day or two, there is an Enterprise location within walking distance (Burnside and 7th) where you can rent a car for much less than at the airport.

we live mostly in hawaii, but spend about 2 months a year in portland We have a locked storage room where we put our things, so during your visit the entire condo (except the locked storage room), and everything in it, will be for your use.
