Lorenzo Maggiore and its annexed excavations (recommended is a babà with cream at the historical Capparelli pastry shop), Napoli Sotterranea (guided tours start from Piazza S. to taste the traditional cuisine, i recommend 3 very small and simple restaurants with an excellent quality / price ratio: "nennella" in the spanish district (the main specialty is pasta and potatoes with provola), "la taverna del buongustaio" in via basilio puoti 8 (excellent fried anchovies and baccalà) and "o tabaccaro", a stone s throw from the sea, at the borgo marinaro, with boats moored alongside (appetizers of all kinds, fish-based starters, fresh fish fry)
for nightlife and aperitifs, it is certainly the most suitable neighborhood and there are many clubs in the area I personally prefer to sit down at an outdoor table in one of Piazza Bellini s pubs where the atmosphere is very relaxing among artists, university students and tourists.

also the port, for connections to the islands and sorrento, can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes
for vesuvius, pompeii, herculaneum, sorrento-amalfi coast, positano you can use the circumvesuviana railway that can be reached by underground (2 stops from montesanto or piazza dante to piazza garibaldi)
