Positive: The house is beautiful. Historic and unique. If you want a cookie cutter hotel, look elsewhere! This place has personality and soul. It's located very close to the subway and multiple bus stops. The people that run it are very friendly and Aubrey gave us a great tour with loads of information right off the bat! We arrived over an hour and a half early due to all our transportation going as easy and seamless as possible (mind-blowing) and Shakir made sure to reach out to Aubrey and let us in with our bags to rest and recharge. It was so kind and definitely above and beyond. Aubrey checked in with us often when he saw us in the common rooms, making sure we had cool water and ready to answer questions about our travel for the day. I love the neighborhood vibe of this stay. I felt like such a local even though I was definitely sticking out as a tourist 🤣
Negative: Not a criticism, but something to note if you need multiple rooms; the layout is very unique. Some rooms upstairs and some downstairs. Ask ahead of booking about which rooms are available and close together. I requested two rooms close together if possible without asking about the layout. One was up and one was down. Luckily, I was traveling with Teens who enjoyed being a little removed from Momma's eye. Since every door has its own code, Aubrey made sure to give both me and the teens the codes to both rooms and to show them where I'm staying so they could "Find Momma if needed". It was very sweet and thoughtful. It would be nice if the rooms had a full length mirror but honestly, that's such a vanity request. I'm on vacation. I don't care how I look! I just want to go explore!!!
Summary: Worth it for a real neighborhood stay in NYC, not touristy!!
