Five minutes away is the village of Evaux les Bains, a spa town already known to the Romans. Here you will find several bakeries, nice shops, restaurants and a supermarket. There are hiking trails such as l'Arbre du Loup along a three-hundred-year-old oak tree, and don't forget to visit the nearby village of Chambon sur Voueize, once voted one of the most beautiful places in France. Ten minutes away is a swimming lake and a nice waterside terrace. The Creuse is one of the quietest departments of France and very suitable for nature lovers, a visit to the Millevaches nature park is worthwhile, or check out the city of Aubusson, very nicely situated with many terraces and the modern international Musée de Tapisserie. Highly recommended! Furthermore, there are plenty of historic towns to visit in the neighbouring departments such as Riom and Clermont-Ferrand in the Puy de Dôme, visit the theme park Vulcania, a spectacular day out for the whole family, or climb one of the sixty ancient volcanoes. In the Allier, half an hour away is the town of Montluçon for more extensive shopping or visit the historic town of Vichy.
