situated on the entrance of dolphin bay, jinja island is surrounded by protective mangroves and fringed its very own coral reef - one of the best preserved in the archipelago
at night there is incredible bio-luminescence in the waters of jinja bay - it sparkles when you swim in it! during the day, you can snorkel the colourful and lively jinja island reef
although jinja island is off-grid, it still boasts some creature comforts There’s a small house on the island with a hot shower, a flush toilet, AC electricity from solar and USB outlets for charging phones and tablets. You will be provided with clean sheets and towels.
if you stay, you will have the house to yourself, and will pretty much be left to your own devices, but you will not be left alone on the island The island’s caretaker, Ismael, will take good care of you. He lives on the island in a separate canbaña with his family and will be there for whatever you require (within reason!).
jinja island is self-catering with everything you need to whip up an island feast for yourself The kitchen comes with a fridge-freezer, gas cooker, oven, pots, plates and cutlery.
if you don’t fancy cooking, with advanced notice, ismael’s wife dormelinda will be happy to make you breakfast, lunch and/or dinner at a set cost using locally-sourced and grown produce
guests are welcome to explore the island, snorkel the reef, chill on the boat dock hammocks, swim in the protected bay and/or paddle a cayuco around to dolphin bay
staying on jinja island will be an experience you’ll never forget, and will directly benefit the local indigenous community I won't be there and Ismael will be your point of contact during your stay.
