Lying at the heart of the scenic Fleet Valley, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, Anwoth provides an ideal base for exploring either by car, bicycle or foot the beautiful unspoiled countryside and magnificent coastline of Dumfries and Galloway. There are many interesting and varied walks from the doorstep and wildlife abounds both in the attractive garden and surrounding area. The quaint wee town of Gatehouse of Fleet with its good selection of shops, pubs and cafes is just a short scenic stroll away or via a more adventurous route over Trusty's Hill with its pictish stone carvings, beautiful sea and hill views and Cardoness Castle. There are several quiet sandy beaches to explore nearby and due to the close proximity of the Gulf Stream there are many beautiful gardens to visit which thrive well in the mild winter climate.
