Dating from the 1600s, the converted country house hotel is a great base for adventures amid the Quantock Hills an area of outstanding natural beauty. The vibrant village of Nether Stowey, which has welcoming pubs and local shops, is 1.5 miles from the doorstep. Once home to poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, whose cottage is now owned by the National Trust, the village is the starting point for the 51-mile Coleridge Way which leads to Lynmouth on the northern edge of Exmoor. Postcard-pretty villages and heritage attractions punctuate this protected area, with must-see sites including fossil-hunting on Kilve Beach (4 miles), Watchet with its harbour (9 miles), and Dunster Castle (14.5 miles). Catch a train from Bishops Lydeard (9.5 miles) along the historic steam railway line to the seaside resort Minehead, or you could follow one of the many coastal paths which offer dramatic cliff-top walks.

There are a further three king-size bedrooms, one double room, and one single, all with en-suite shower rooms. A further two bedrooms, both with super-king-size zip-and-link beds which can be made into twins on request, each have en-suite shower rooms and are located on the ground floor, with their own external access. All nine bedrooms here have their own Smart TV. There are two separate WCs on the ground floor.
