Perched on the French-Swiss border, stunning mountain scenery greets you at the luxurious Chalet Etoile which is situated only 1km outside of the charming traditional French village of Abondance, with its historic abbey and delightful boulangerie, restaurants and cafes.

There are 800km of hiking trails in the vicinity ranging from challenging climbing to snow shoeing and easy hill hikes. For skiers there are 170 kms of blue runs, 380 km of red runs and 100 km of black runs to suit all abilities. For cycling enthusiasts there are 650 km of marked cycling routes. Mountain bikers can enjoy 380km trails including 5 bike parks with 10 lifts. In the summer months there are 10 permanent downhill trails open.

Nearby is the Gorge Pont Diable, a natural gorge and place of beauty and the lakeside pretty towns of Evian les Bains and Yvoirre are just an easy drive away. There is a large sandy beach on the banks of Lake Geneva at Excenevex and for the more adventurous why not climb the Via Ferrata at la Chapelle d'Abondance or white water raft the river Dranse.
