It is located in an ideal spot to explore Ambleside, Windermere and the wider Lake District, although you might find it hard to tear yourselves away from the vistas on your very own doorstep. Nestled into a rugged slate outcrop, Barakat has outstanding views in every direction. What could be better than sitting on the slate terrace with a glass of wine, watching as the cattle wander down to the banks of the River Brathay to drink? Or watching the sun set over the magnificent Lakeland fells? Stroll down to the Wateredge Inn for lunch, before a wander around the Roman Fort ‘Galava’ directly opposite Barakat.
