Pothmadog, just 4 miles away along the Glaslyn Estuary, is a lively harbour town with an exciting marina, a wide variety of unique shops and restaurants, and the historic Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. The fantastic Italianate village of Portmeirion is a must-see, and the picturesque cliffs and coves, as well as the enormous Black Rock Beach, make for a perfect day trip. This is a great place to stay to explore Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula, as you will be close to the mountain towns of Criccieth, Harlech, and Caernarfon, as well as many other outdoor attractions. Within a ten- to twenty-minute car ride, you can reach a number of stunning sand beaches.
