ballachulish is a lovely highland village with many amenities including a upermarket (open till 10 seven days a week), tourist information centre with coffee shop, restaurant, patisserie and doctors The wider area boasts many restaurants, cafés and pubs, all serving good, local food. It’s close to historic scenic Glencoe and surrounded by the most breath-taking scenery of mountains and lochs. This area is renowned for its outdoor pursuits and offers a large range of sports and outdoor activities, including winter sports, hill walking, climbing, mountaineering, fishing and water sports, mountain biking and golfing. Both Glencoe Mountain Resort and Fort William, known as the ‘Outdoor capital of the UK’, are only a short drive. Travel on the West Highland Steam Train (as depicted in the Harry Potter movie) to Mallaig, crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, or visit some of the unspoilt beaches, castles, museums, and distilleries. Boat trips to the inner isles including Mull and Iona are easily accessible or take a day exploring the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
