Situated halfway up the hill of Castelnuovo dell’Abate and surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, and woods filled with oak trees, this stunning retreat offers a panoramic view of the Orcia Valley. From the main road, an unpaved private driveway leads to the villa. This unpaved road is not suitable for cars that are low to the ground. Even though Villa San Gio is in a very private location, it is only a 10 minute drive to the historic center of Montalcino, where you can find a grocery shop, pharmacy, post office, banks, restaurants, shops, and historic sites to visit.Villa San Gio has been lovingly restored and elegantly furnished, while maintaining its original Tuscan design. There is a swimming pool for guests to enjoy in the garden. Please note that the pool is open from mid-May through the end of September.There are many amenities such as high speed Internet, satellite TV, a phone, and a stereo.

From the entrance hall, there is a large, open living room with the original terracotta tiled floors, an open beam ceiling, a stone fireplace, and a beautiful view of the valley. The adjacent family room on one side, and dining room (with table and chairs for 10) on the other, are entered through stone archways. Adjoining the dining room is a spacious kitchen fully equipped with a gas range, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, mixer, Italian coffee machine, American office maker, and juice maker. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. In a more private area of the ground floor, there is a study with SAT TV and stereo. Also on the ground floor is one bedroom with a queen bed and en suite shower bathroom.The second floor is accessible by an open wrought iron staircase. On the second floor are three large and comfortable bedrooms; one with a queen bed and en suite bathroom with a shower, another with a queen bed, a fireplace, and access to the garden through an external staircase, and one bedroom with a double bed.
