now our cottage sleeps eight!
the loose caboose suite over the garage is now available for overflow! it has a huge bedroom with couch and a table and chair set, a full sized bed and a private bath! you may recall that the house sleeps 6 comfortably and we used to charge per person after that now you can have 2 additional people in the spacious guest suite above the garage for only $50 per night for a total of 8 people!
in addition we've added a huge laundry room downstairs, plus a gated dog yard for you family pets behind the barn!
vacation station is brought to you by the owners of the honey moon cottage (homeaway #4011055) just 3 cottages away up a private dirt drive! both cottages share the same private beach and are quiet, private and dog friendly!
vacation station was built in the 1930's as part of the edgewood park resort on lake willoughby in westmore, vermont This small family association had more than a dozen cottages complete with a roller rink, mess hall, tennis courts, sandy beach and activities reminiscent of the Patrick Swayze movie Dirty Dancing.
only a handful of these summer cottages have stood the test of time, and thankfully vacation station - so called because of the antique train which chugs the length of the loft and extends around living room ceiling - is one of them!
the first round of renovations happened in 2019 We jacked the house and put it on a new foundation. We also renovated the main bath and turned the old outdoor shower with dressing room into a private master bath. We also added a deck with outdoor shower attached to the second bedroom. Out back, we created a seating area with grill and picnic table off the deck and put in a private yard with firepit and seating area beside the barn. A smart tv and wifi were also added.
the second round of renovations happens in spring 2021 with a renovated kitchen, dining room and downstairs bedrooms The spiral staircase to the second floor was partially enclosed for kids' safety.
enjoy 2 bedrooms on the ground floor--the master has a new construction small private bath Between the two large bedrooms is a large bathroom with a refurbished clawfoot tub, plus an outdoor shower off the deck. the third sleeping space is a large loft overlooking the living room for the kids with a twin bed and nightstand at each end!

behind the house, there is a large detached barn Just this year 2022 we renovated the second floor studio apartment called "the Loose Caboose" for overflow. We will not normally rent this as it is not available by itself but if you find you have more than 6 people coming to Vacation Station, please consider it for only $50 per night.
another new feature is our laundry room, located in the first floor of the barn Anyone staying a week or more can have the key for $25. We supply a washer, dryer and laundry soap. Please do not offer the key to any other cottages and please keep the door locked when laundry room is not in use.
to keep your pups happy, there is a good sized dog yard behind the barn the screen porch at the front of the cottage is also a preferred dog hangout!
worried about heat in the fall? in the main house each room has electric heat and we have just refurbished the original wool stove in the living room to keep you toatsy!
