paauilo mauka(mountain side) is about 2,100 feet elevation It is a unique area that provides a good balance of rain and sunshine for plants to thrive. With cool breezes and average day temperatures of about 75 to 82 degrees ºF and night temps of about 58 to 68 degrees ºF. No air conditioning needed. I love the beach, however, I value my sleep and can't sleep in the heat and humidity of the west side, Kona and Hilo at night. Stargazing is spectacular when the skies are clear. No vog so you can breath easy. The Hawaii Vanilla Farm, Mauna Kea Tea Farm, local organic produce, local eateries, Tex for famous Malasadas, and great scenic hiking trails and activities along the amazing Hamakua Coast.
a rental car is highly recommended to enjoy so many beautiful sites on this side of the island I personally provided many tours so can give you many suggestions. Or just relax, bbq, and take in the fresh air in your screened lanai or leisurely stroll.

we also grow passion fruit, guava, lemon grass, rosemary, kaffir lime, tahitian lime, lemons, curry leaf, chayote, cranberry hibiscus, moringa, mints and herbs to use for cooking and brewing tea when available More veggies, fruits, and exotic flowers to grow.
