We built this home in 2019 with the goal of creating a light and cosy space for our own young family to enjoy and make memories at for years to come. It is our pleasure to share 'The Salty Olive' with guests so that they can do the same with their loved ones.
slow down and reinvigorate with un-hurried mornings and leisurely walks Good coffee and food. A refreshing ocean swim. Gather by the ambient wood fire with a glass of wine. The good stuff.
the space
the property is self-contained with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry, open plan living space, dining area and kitchen You’ll find all that you need for your beach holiday. The kitchen is set up for those that love good food and entertaining, with proper equipment and utensils, a dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge and rain water on tap.
there's a big wood heater and a supply of red gum firewood cut and split by my husband and myself (ok, mostly my husband) from fallen branches on our farm There's also a reverse cycle air conditioner in the living area and oil heaters in the bedrooms.
the bedrooms all have built in wardrobes and cosy linen The master bedroom has a wall mounted TV and an ensuite bathroom.
outdoors, enjoy the hot outdoor shower, a sheltered outdoor deck with a weber bbq and a green lawn The backyard is fully fenced.
location
long beach is a five minute stroll away and the centre of town is about five minutes drive by car (or a scenic 45 minute walk along a track hugging the coastline) The house is situated on a quiet street.
an ideal weekend…
perhaps start by heading out for a walk on the beach or a bike-ride into town for a coffee at one of the many wonderful cafes and taking a scenic route home, checking out the harbour and the iconic obelisk Laze away the afternoon plonking yourself on the sofa and getting lost in a good book or peruse the boutiques in town.
for the adventurous, perhaps explore little dip conservation park by 4wd, try your luck fishing, snorkelling, or explore the many beautiful beaches For the wine enthusiasts, the Mt Benson wine region is only a 15 minute drive away and the renowned Coonawarra wine region is an hour away.
for dinner we love to crack a bottle of vino and prepare a beautiful home cooked meal Perhaps a BBQ with some Ottolenghi inspired salads or an indulgent pasta using fresh, local seafood. If cooking is not on the agenda then there is a plethora of eateries a short drive away. After dinner if there is still some energy to burn we love to head out for a walk to watch the sunset over Long beach or get involved in a board game while listening to some good tunes.
robe is one of those special places where you can kick off your shoes and really switch off It can be as active or relaxing as you want it to be. We hope you enjoy the area and our home as much as we do.
