there are many great walks all around, with much ‘open access land’ on the tops of the fells The town centre is a 40-minute walk down the field tarmac path (the main road does not have a pavement and the speeding traffic makes it too dangerous to risk walking on). There is plenty of parking in the town, and although the main road parking is often congested, there is a large car park which can be found by turning left at the mini roundabout and then following the signs.
