Whether traveling as a group with 4 couples, families+children, reunions, retreats, or a quiet getaway on your own, this custom estate home is the perfect gathering place. The property has a gated driveway, gardens, deck, trail, and access areas. The home includes everything you need to feel comfortable: heaters, TV+Dish Network, Starlink satellite WiFi, modern kitchen, tuned baby grand piano, & hot tub. Tableware and kitchen/cooking implements included. 2 full bathrooms with tub/shower (one an ensuite to the downstairs bedroom). The property is the perfect distance from town to be away from the hustle & bustle, and just 15 minutes to McKinleyville, Blue Lake, Trinidad, and the ACV airport.
adjacent 1br/1ba+kitchen studio cabin option:
as an add-on, the property has a separate rental which is an adjacent/detached 1br/1ba mother-in-law studio that can be rented as an add-on (if available; it does rent separately) for 25% off its market rate It contains a king bed with new mattress, pullout loveseat with twin mattress, full bathroom with stall shower, toilet & pedestal sink, full kitchen (sink, range+oven, full fridge), dining+seating area with propane fireplace, & flat-screen satellite tv. It's a great way to space out sleeping arrangements & quiet time, while still being very proximate to the main house to convene as a group. There are also additional cabin units on the 10 acre parcel that could be added on as additional rentals if your party is larger. Otherwise, they operate as separate units with separate driveways and little to no shared visibility.

this is the primary living space & main entertaining floor It has 1 CA king bedroom, 1 queen bedroom, & 1 full bathroom. The kitchen, dining room, & living room/great room with 1 TV (41” HD flat screen smart TV, Dish Network satellite) & red leather sofa plus EZ chair are on this floor, as is the piano & telescope. This level also has direct deck access from 3 exterior doors to hammock, hot tub, and Crate & Barrel deck furniture.
the dining room boasts a cherrywood thomasville dining table with 10 silk-upholstered chairs, an antique rug, and a 1915 baldwin baby grand piano (tuned, with assorted sheet music) There’s a comfy red leather sofa, which can also comfortably sleep 1 adult.
the kitchen has 3 wide leather barstools for meals at the granite breakfast bar It's also outfitted with a Keurig/Mr. Coffee, toaster, starter supply of k-cups, and creamer+sweetener. The nearest store (Fieldbrook Market) is at the bottom of the hill, 1/4 mile down the road (a 5-7 minute drive). Instacart also delivers to the property.
-main house, downstairs-
a second living room with deep/wide split sectional couch is on this level (sleeps an additional 1-2 adults), with a 57” hd smart tv French doors lead out to the driveway and rose garden, with a 2nd exterior access door to the side yard and garden gate. The CA King bedroom downstairs has a new Purple mattress and ensuite bathroom, while the queen bedroom has a kitchenette/cocktail area with high-boy and 2 barstools, loveseat, desk, plus a separate exterior access door leading out to the garden and rustic arbor swing.
all mattresses are new and very comfortable There are extra pillows, blankets, throws & space heaters. All bedrooms have Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades on picture windows that open. There are no screens, though we have no biting bugs.

a gorgeous, quiet, redwood retreat Nestled in a private 10-acre redwood grove alongside a seasonal creek with waterfalls that run from about October-June/July, there are many flowers, fruit trees and berry bushes. You will enjoy the outdoors all around you. During the summer it’s cool, and in the winter/spring it’s rainy. This space is perfect for long stays. Inspiration for artists, writers and creative energy abounds.
overhead redwood trees have been limbed to create a canopy Stars are visible at night (when clear), and forest is quiet with birdsong and the sound of running water (when creek/waterfall are running; dry during summer). Peaceful adventure and natural beauty await you in a setting with the cleanest air, purest water, (and no biting bugs!) We have frequent day & nighttime fog. While it may be sunny, it can still be cool here. Our average summertime high is 64°F & average wintertime low is 38°F.
there is a long, private gated driveway with parking for several cars, and a mature rose, fruit, & flower garden In summer, fragrant roses, lilacs, wisteria, honeysuckle, and rhododendrons abound.
the property immediately abuts 200,000 acres of undisturbed private forest timberland just behind/above the house (That area is private property & expressly off-limits to the public). Guests are welcome to wander around our own 10-acre property, hike, enjoy the gardens, creeks, & trails but please prioritize safety & awareness as this is raw, rustic nature.
**amenities**
we provide linens/towels, shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper & paper towels Both full bathtub/showers are curtained. In addition to the propane flip-switch fireplace heater in the upstairs living room, there’s also central heat with a thermostat both upstairs & down, and separate electric space-heaters + throw blankets for extra warmth as desired. It doesn't usually get “hot” here so most homes don't have A/C, but there are overhead ceiling fans for circulation in the bedrooms. Windows in all bedrooms open, as do those in the bathroom & kitchen areas.
**additional property notes**
-parties/events/gatherings: none No exceptions. We don't allow any more guests onsite than those on the booked reservation. This includes locals wanting to just "stop by" or vague definitions of mellow get-togethers. We have finite water, propane, & parking resources, and deck weight limitations. There are free accommodations at local parks & beaches for parties. Only those on the booking are allowed on property.
-road: we have a rather narrow, and occasionally steep, unpaved access road leading to the house It’s graded several times a year, but can be bumpy/pitted/potholed especially after heavy rains. It’s a private road that’s unlit, so first arrivals during daylight are suggested until you get the lay of the land. You will not need a 4WD. We don't even own one ourselves.
-weather: although there's a propane fireplace heater & central heat, the home may feel chilly in the mornings/evenings so please dress warmly (even in summer) and bring a bathrobe/slippers to feel extra cozy There are throw blankets on all couches, and space heaters in all rooms.
-trash: the reason for the gate & fully fenced perimeter to the compound, is that there is wildlife Deer and elk forged game trails through the woods nearby, & we have wily raccoons. Keep trash secured indoors, with bagged overflow contained in the outside bins in the wooden, latched containers adjacent to the house/sidewalk along the deck. Please keep them closed and latched. Trash cans are collected onsite via the parked blue utility truck in the driveway every Monday between 10-11am. Weekly trash collection is a standard public utility. Please consider this your notification should your stay or checkout eclipse a Monday.
-hiking: enjoy private trails within our 10 acres See marked trail equipped with handrail. The property adjoins 200,000 acres/many square miles of private redwood land to the east, but that is separate, private property and guests are cautioned to stay out of that area. It's dense, ungroomed, with no trails.
-kids: well-supervised children are welcome, but please ensure they don’t wander off The redwood forest terrain is rugged, best adapted to capable adults.
-fire: no bbq provided, and please don't bring one No smoking, candles, incense, or campfires in the house or on the property. We're in an extreme forest fire hazard zone and fires are prohibited by our insurance provider.
-internet: starlink satellite internet Low latency, high speed. Works great for streaming, email, general web-browsing, and remote work including video conferencing.
-nature: please be respectful of the nature that surrounds you We have native banana slugs whose 'slime' is essential to the ecosystem of the forest, so please don't squish, trap, or kill them.
-creek: the creek is beautiful to look at, but please don't play in or disturb it It's the water source for folks who live along this hill, and we like to leave the moss, rocks, logs, plants/flowers, and terrain as is.
-mushrooms: many different varieties of mushrooms abound here (some are hallucinogenic, others highly poisonous) Unless you're an experienced mycologist, they're better to look at & photograph than to pick or eat.
-pets: we believe all pets provide emotional support This said, emotional support animals aren't covered by the ADA, and we keep our property PET-FREE, so no need to inquire about an exception. There are no pets on the property, though a neighbor’s dog may wander by along the road. Most neighborhood pets here in the rural country are not contained & roam freely. There’s no need for concern, they're friendly and will eventually find their way home.
-exterior security: be advised there are two (2) visible *exterior only* security cameras One is at the entry gate, the other at the downstairs French doors.
