la perla azul is located 45 miles south of San Pedro’s town core, which means you are away from the crowds. the closest bar/restaurant are about a mile north, with a cluster of businesses (restaurants, mini-mart, & tour operator) about two miles north, plus of course more shopping, restaurant & entertainment options on the way to & in town, which is not far away!
a trip to town is an adventure as for about 2 miles the roads are hard packed sand, but that is all part of the vacation fun!
the belize barrier reef, the longest in the western hemisphere, is very close to shore making the area ideal for scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing; other water sports are also popular!
it's easy to take a day trip to the mainland to visit maya sites such as altun ha and lamanai; or to observe some of the 500 species of birds found in belize and/or catch a glimpse of monkeys, manatees and crocodiles in the wild!
