Nestled at the foot of Bagnoregio on the grounds of a former monastery founded by followers of St. Francis of Assisi, this property offers a truly unique retreat with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. What makes this place extraordinary is the dedication and passion of its sole owner and host, Mr. Dante. Transforming this consecrated monastery and chapel into guest accommodations was a true labor of love, it took an incredible 15 years to obtain all the necessary permits, including special authorization from the Vatican. Mr. Dante’s perseverance and vision are evident in every corner of the property, and he takes genuine pleasure when guests appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of his lifelong project. The gardens are a highlight, especially in early June when arches of flowering jasmine and a variety of vibrant blooms fill the air with their fragrance. Ancient olive trees, some nearly 30 years old and planted by Mr. Dante himself, add to the sense of history and tranquility. He even produces his own olive oil from the orchard on site, a testament to his deep connection with the land. Accommodations are spread across several charming buildings, each with a private bathroom for comfort and privacy. Breakfast is a delightful selection of sweet pastries, and guests can make their own coffee using a capsule machine with a milk frother, perfect for crafting your own cappuccino.
