this historic house was built in 1955 as the manager’s house for kealia ranch It was designed by noted local architect Albert Ives who, early in his career, designed the additions and alterations to what is now known as the Winterthur Museum in Delaware. Native materials such as Koa, Ohia, and lava rock were sourced and finished on-island by local artisans. In 1957 an annex was added across the courtyard with additional bedrooms and baths. The old ranch brand is inscribed in the brick walkway at the top of the entrance stairs.
