Positive: The room was pleasant, clean and comfortable. We had a sort of accidental upgrade as they had just added second beds to the king rooms, so we had two beds! The breakfast was nice and the reception staff were friendly.
Negative: [July 2023] The hotel is currently being used to house immigrants awaiting visa applications and we were unaware of this at the time of booking. We would have appreciated being told that we would still be welcome and that it wouldn't interfere with our enjoyment of the hotel. The presence of numerous security guards inside and outside of the hotel was disconcerting. We didn't feel unwelcome but felt that we perhaps shouldn't have been there. There didn't appear to be any other guests staying there at the time and we felt a bit uncomfortable. The location is dismal and unwelcoming - it's surrounded by concrete - empty car parks, highway overpasses and abandoned buildings. It's also not that close to the centre of the city. The hotel also didn't have any tourist information available e.g. a city guide, transport information and restaurant recommendations.
Summary: Clean and comfortable but the location and atmosphere was less welcoming.
