There are endless shops, restaurants and bars to choose from. The beaches are very close as well. Folly Beach is the closest beach (10 miles / 15 minutes). Folly has the most going on in terms of stores and restaurants. Folly also has Folly Beach County Park which includes bathrooms, showers, and parking for a small fee. Sullivans Island is about 12 miles (22 minute drive) away and is also a great beach with some amazing restaurants.
