Positive: The place is large enough to accommodate a family, and the views are stunning to put it mildly. In fact, we could not stop looking at the valley. There are facilities (though these may require maintenance - see "what didn't you like" section of this review) that properly working would make this a wonderful long term stay in every season. The apartment occupies one half (over two storeys - so there are steps inside the house, and guests with mobility issues should consider this) of a house, but it has its independent entrance. The location is quiet and by the look of it is safe: the host left the keys on the door for us, and clearly was certain that nobody else would try to get in. The house is in a group of 3 (4?), behind a picturesque church. The village is a couple of km away. We found also some basic supplies in the kitchen and in the bathroom, though it is recommended to bring own shampoo, shower soap, etc. I appreciated that there were multiple rolls of toilet paper, and abundant hand soap on the sink. The kitchen has pots, pans, glasses, dishes, cutlery, etc. We did not use the kitchen (one night stay) so I am not certain about everything else, but by the look of it the necessary items for cooking are available. The apartment itself is artistically decorated: we surmised that an artist may have lived there, because we saw lots of pictures painted by the same hand, including the "portrait" of a cat, which we assumed must have belonged to the artist and lived there, since we found a cat-door as well. On the second floor there are books everywhere - which I loved! Overall, a great place for a change-of-pace long stay holiday, when it is fully functional.
Negative: (1) We were two people traveling, and naturally assumed that two beds would be made, but this was not the case. Only one bed had been prepared for us. I am not sure whether we were supposed to specify this in advance, since it was a question that never emerged when we were communicating with the host. Nevertheless, this was not a major problem, since we are sisters and the bed was large enough for both of us. (2) More of an issue was that we only realized late at night, after returning from our exploration of the wonderful countryside, and having dinner, that there was no hot water. I sent a message through the booking message board to the host asking whether we were supposed to turn on some switch or some such, but we only got an answer in the morning, when we were supposed to leave (we stayed only one night). The host on call that morning (Claudia) sent me a message to let me know that she had checked the water heater, and found that it was blocked, but she started it again. Therefore, I recommend future guests to (a) make sure to meet with the host to tour the place to ensure all the expectations are met - or at least discuss them in advance, and also to check all necessary utilities are working properly. Hot water is one problem that cannot be alleviated in other ways. (3) Again, we found out only late at night TV antenna had been disconnected or the TV channels had not been synchronized. We tried to connect the antenna, but did not go very far: only one channel came through. Also streaming (e.g., Netflix) did not work. We did not need to watch TV, so this was overall a minor annoyance, but in the description of the property the TV set is included, so one would expect it to work. (4) We found the place had not been cleaned in some areas. Overall, while we understand it is not a hotel, we would expect the hosts to perform basic maintenance and check that everything is in working order when new guests come in.
