The rustico was originally built as a stable in 1713. Two hundred years later, the owners lovingly transformed it into an energising retreat to escape the shimmering lake promenades. There is always a cooling breeze up here. Time seems to stand still in other ways too. On the deckchairs in the garden, from which you can see across Lake Maggiore as far as Italy. Anyone arriving from the city in the morning and preparing their polenta over the open fire in the house in the evening knows what it feels like to travel back in time.
