Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: This property was in a lovely location, offering a wonderful view and access to Lake Champlain. The house provided for our needs for a family of four in fine fashion. Temperature control throughout the house was a nice feature as some of us like a cool room for sleeping and some a warmer room. AC worked well throughout our summertime visit. Spending time on the screened in porch was great and we enjoyed several sunsets from there. Proximity to downtown, lakefront Burlington was convenient and an easy drive of 20 minutes.
Negative: What keeps me from giving an "exceeds expectations" rating was the need for some maintenance and upkeep of structural items. Two screens on the porch need to be fixed or replaced. We did our best with a bit of duct tape, and it did work for us keeping mosquitoes out in the evening when they are most prevalent. Not a solution though for next visitors. A couple of chairs on outside porch were unusable and in need of obvious repair. Main door access had a faulty door handle and needs securing (it kept coming apart on us). We are a family of tall people and a low ceiling beam when going into bathroom and main bedroom was a problem. Hitting it with heads was an issue. I realize that this is not something to "fix", however, we found placing a beach towel on the floor below it reminded us to duck, so perhaps placing a bright area rug underneath would prevent future head hits. Last issue we experienced was the lack of dock ladder. We observed it in its winter storage location halfway up beach access trail. We made do with getting into water when we wanted to swim, but it was not a safe solution and certainly not a kid friendly dock without a ladder.
Summary: We enjoyed our stay greatly and would consider returning to this location should the occasion arise.
