Paradise eco-village is an eco-hostel, a unique experiment in sustainable land- and human-friendly environment. Paradise provides a comfortable balance between living in the wild and having the most necessary comforts of civilization. Paradise is located on three sprawling acres on the very East of the Big Island of Hawaii in Kapoho, a few minutes away from Pahoa, Hi, where the weather, all year round, ranges from 75F to 88F (24C to 31C) and the intermittent light rains are very pleasant.
staying in paradise means being inside a permaculture and sustainable eco-village We have a green house and some gardens, and many tropical fruit trees spread all over the property. You are free to take and eat from this all. It is a simple, rural, and basic way of living: off the grid: The water is from the rain-catchments, the electricity from solar-panels, and we use composting toilets. Our structures are covered with massive tarps that offer ample protect from the rain and the Sun.
buildings: our dorms We have four dorms and they all are made from large hanging tarps 24 x 44 feet, under those large and strong roofs are wooden constructions, wooden floors and wooden beds. Every dorm has a kitchen and some have their own [cold] shower. Most dorms have mosquito nets: the tarps give a good shelter against rain and sun but let the wind blow through the constructions. (see photo's). Dorms have 4 or 5 beds, single or double; with king size mattresses. We provide sheets, blankets and pillows for all the guests. (Also for those who come to camp out).

one can cook either in one's dorm or the community kitchen, find some harvested bananas, coconuts, jack fruit, papaya, ( please add more here ) and other exotic fruits ripening on the trees nearby Our gardens provide a wide array of edible greens, spices and beautiful plants. Most of the salads for our big Taco Tuesdays potluck, come from the garden. this weekly, family friendly event attracts lots of friends and musicians – probably the most exciting thing happening for miles around!
